About Me

Kath Clerkin B.Ed.(Hons.)

I am a qualified teacher with over 25 years teaching experience in the classroom, during which time I undertook many management roles including liaison co-ordinator for primary/secondary transition. I was also Head of Key Stage 2 where I developed my leadership skills. My management style ensured good teaching practice and achievement.

I am passionate about working with young people and helping them achieve their full potential. I believe in providing a vital role in building foundations in life. My approach throughout my teaching career has always been to see each child as an individual with their own needs and abilities, and I believe strongly that the success of a child's development, both academically and emotionally, relies very much on parent and teachers working together.

In recent years I expanded my skills base and set up a successful tutoring business. I achieve success in academic terms and in the development of the child's confidence in their own abilities. I am able to identify the child's needs and plan, monitor and evaluate a structured individual programme accordingly.

I am also an experienced Functional Skills tutor, preparing NVQ learners for qualifications in Maths and English, whilst developing their self-esteem and self-confidence. I also have experience working within schools to help improve maths booster support to improve standards and prepare pupils for their year 6 SATS.

I hold a fully enhanced CRB/DBS (Criminal Records Bureau Check/Disclosure Barring Service).
